Our office
Wills and powers of attorney in Surrey, BC
We prepare wills, powers of attorney and representation agreements for Surrey clients at our office on 120 Street, in English, Punjabi or Hindi. Most people need two short appointments: one to give instructions, one to sign.
Surrey households are often larger than the paperwork assumes. A home may be held with a parent or a sibling, an adult child may have put money into the mortgage, and the person you would most trust as executor may live overseas. Each of those changes what the will has to say, and whether title is better dealt with now or left to the estate.

Questions from Surrey clients
Can I leave my home to one of my children and not the others?
You can write that, but in British Columbia a spouse or child who is left out can ask the court to vary the will, and the court can change the gifts. That does not make unequal wills pointless. It means the reasons need to be recorded properly at the time, and sometimes the plan is better carried out another way. We go through both at the meeting.
How often should a will be reviewed?
Every few years, and straight away after a marriage, separation, birth, death, a significant purchase or sale, or a move to or from another province or country.
Where should the original will be kept?
Somewhere safe, accessible and known to the executor. The location can also be filed with the BC wills registry, so that a search after death finds it.
Can these documents be prepared in one meeting?
Usually the set is prepared over two: one to take instructions and one to sign. Where something is urgent, such as surgery scheduled for the week ahead, tell us and we will work to it.
